PROJECT PINK – Breast Cancer Awareness

October 20, 2018

Project Pink - Flagler Avenue

Project Pink raises money for breast cancer charities with the annual Chili-Cook Off and Bras for TaTas contests among Flagler Avenue area businesses. We also have a Craft Beer Walk going on at the same time (after all what goes better with Chili than beer?)

The chili component of the festival includes over 20 chilis available for tasting. The $15 passport allows participants to taste each of the chilis and then vote for their favorite one. Winners receive both bragging rights and “Best at the Beach” plaques. All $15 from the chili tasting benefit the Breast Cancer Charity programs. Participating restaurants donate their time, food and staffing. The chili tasting stations are set up along Flagler Avenue in participating businesses.

As a complement to the chili tasting, the Flagler Avenue Hospitality Group is hosting a progressive craft beer tasting along the Avenue where participants can taste 20 of the more than 50 showcased craft beers. Participants purchase “passports” for $15 which includes a keepsake mini beer mug. The passports list all of the host locations in geographic order from the ocean to the river and what beers they are featuring. Brewery representatives will also be on hand at several of the locations. Participating restaurant locations are also offering Festival specials for dinner starting at 5pm.

Registration for both the chili and craft beer tasting are available at Festival Information Tents located at Atlantic and Flagler, Cooper and Flagler, and Pine and Flagler intersections.

In addition to the chili and craft beer tasting, the festival offers live entertainment at multiple locations, free on-street motorcycle parking, and several breast cancer related education and awareness booths.

Flagler Avenue is located beachside in New Smyrna Beach off the North Causeway Bridge. Parking is plentiful throughout the Flagler Avenue District with street parking, behind store parking lots and the beach approach surface lot all open and free.
